I'm a 5 Star Etsy Seller of Custom Wedding Dresses and Bridal Illustrator and Educator, Pinterest Brand Strategist as well as a Bridal Trend & Manufacturing Expert from Connecticut.

Before starting my bridal brand, I worked in both the NY and LA Garment districts as a designer, and was used to submitting orders to our sample room and getting back professional samples.

When I decided to start my own bridal brand, I used to sit at my sewing machine for HOURS making samples.

It was rough because I also had an infant and no time for myself!

I would literally shake with fear when I would get too many orders and inquiries and I ended up refunding people their money and damaging my reputation in the early days because

I just COULDN'T SEW ALL THOSE ORDERS BY MYSELF!

I realized I needed help FAST!

 

I hired local sewers who gave me hit or miss quality samples or couldn't replicate them because they didn't use a pattern.

Then I decided to try to work with a manufacturing agent.

But their prices were astronomical and I just couldn't see myself paying for something that I could do on my own, since I had worked with factories in the past.

So I struck out on my own, searched for and contacted factories and after LOTS of trial and error...

I have been able to find and work with reputable factories since 2009!

 I even utilized the same factory for FIVE YEARS, but sadly they closed down due to the Pandemic.

I went back to the drawing board, pun intended and found two new factories, one a high end factory with amazing prices, beautiful work and professional service and the other with couture level work and full service design assistance - they even have done rush orders for me in 30 days!

But when I started on this journey I was definitely confused like I know YOU have been!

How did you find these manufacturers?

Besides the manufacturer I used regularly, I have built a professional reputation in the Bridal Sourcing community by working with some of the best manufacturers. I've also received samples to test out countless factories and I have received referrals from other trusted manufacturers which has helped me narrow down the list you will receive.

 

Can you guarantee that I will get a perfect sample?

While it's not possible for me to guarantee that every sample you order will turn out perfectly, I will give you the steps you need to submit your sample request and get back a PROFESSIONALLY MADE SAMPLE. That means you MUST follow the steps I outline and follow up with your new manufacturer in a TIMELY FASHION! Attending the workshops will help you have the BEST possible result. 

 

Are Sampling fees included with this offer?

This program only includes the above mentioned; no sampling fees, fabric costs, shipping/customs duties are included in this fee. 

 

Do I need a pattern-maker to work with these manufacturers?

Pattern making is included in your sampling cost. Fabric is also usually included unless you or your client wants a specific fabric, but you can also ask your new manufacturing partner to find the fabric you need. I do offer specialty fabric sourcing partners that can be added separately as needed.

 

Can I just hire you to submit my orders when I have them?

Absolutely! I offer ongoing retainer Production Management services. If that is something you are interested in please email me at bydanisimone@gmail.com. You can either have me work for you by the piece or on monthly retainer.

 

What is the difference between this and a Vendors list? I've seen people selling them for WAY less. 

Vendor lists are literally available anywhere and the value they provide depends on the type of products and services they offer and the Seller's own personal experience. I've seen AND purchased Vendor's lists for anywhere between $27-$97 and I can tell you right now THIS is NOT a Vendors List. This program is the FIRST and ONLY one of it's kind taught by a Professional Fashion Design School Educated, Fashion Industry Trained Designer who uses the Manufacturing Partners within it. You ARE NOT getting a list of Vendors that may or may not provide you with what you are looking for, you are getting high quality professional Manufacturing Partners who have a HIGHLY skilled team of pattern makers, sewers, hand beaders, cutters, and more whose main focus is on Bridal and Special Occasion Dresses. And you are getting the knowledge and know how I've honed since 2001 when I first entered the industry plus the 17 years I've spent as a working Bridal and Special Occasion Dress designer. 

 

How much can I make if I place orders with these manufacturers? 

This all depends on pricing and what you choose to charge but guess what? I dive deep into pricing and I really focus on CHALLENGING how you see yourself and your business. If you are looking to charge more for your designs, I can help you do that. I initially started out selling fully custom wedding dresses I sewed myself for $500. Yup that's it. I have been able to increase my prices steadily over the years and my current pricing is $10K plus for Bespoke wedding dresses and $5500 plus for gowns in my collection. AND as a special bonus, I will teach you my strategies for commanding more per wedding or special occasion dress you sell BUT you have to believe in yourself and focus on the other pieces of growing your brand to ensure you are charging appropriately. I would like to see my students charging no less than $3000 for custom gowns depending on the style, fabric and packaging/shipping and number of fittings you choose to conduct. 

 

I still want to sew, I just need help with taking more orders especially with my busy season. Is this for me?

I will teach you strategies to help you still enjoy the parts of your business that make you happy. One of our Monthly sessions will focus on ways to help designers like you so if you just need help with orders this is definitely for you. 

How is this design if I'm not sewing? How can I still call myself a designer if I don't sew my own gowns?

One of the most popular misconceptions is that a Designer MUST sew. This is simply not true. Most of your FAVORITE Designers don't sew anything. They Direct their team of sewers or manufacturing partners in how they want their designs made. And if you don't believe me here are two things to think about:

1. Many of your favorite designers use manufacturing partners. Hiring sewers locally can be extremely expensive and for companies that want to see more profit, working with manufacturing partners puts more money in their pockets AND

2. I NEVER SEWED A STITCH (besides doing really quick repairs in the showroom or for my bosses) when I worked in the Fashion Industry. At 25 years old, I had a salary of $70K plus a $30K expense account, catered lunch daily and a town car to take me home when I worked late plus trips to LA and domestically to shop for samples which I often was allowed to keep. Like reallllly expensive samples. And I sewed NOTHING. Sometimes I had to do pattern correction but it was a rare occasion. I was the Head Designer and all the designs came from my head, were sketched by me, fabric sourced by me, specs written by me, etc but I didn't sew ANYTHING. And my resume and clients will tell you I am DEFINITELY a Designer.

It's a common misconception that Designers must sew, and when you are a Designer in the Fashion Industry your job is to direct your team on how to make your designs. It can be confusing when Fashion Design school curriculum focuses entire coursework on sewing but in my experience this is more so that the Designer understand HOW garments are made and once you graduate, those skills are only useful in getting seamstress jobs or in the early stages of starting your business journey. When it's time to SCALE or grow your business, you may find that being behind the sewing machine is not the best usage of the bulk of your time. 

 

Where are your manufacturers located?

The manufacturers on my list may be located in the USA, China, Ukraine, Turkey, India or Vietnam and the US. My most recommended Manufacturing. partners are in China including both high end and couture, I have found through years of working with the different countries listed above that China provides unparalleled service and quality due to their country’s investment in becoming the Manufacturing Capital of the world, so I always suggest them FIRST. Many other countries may not provide full service sample making so you’ll need to provide fabric, patterns and trims to complete your project if they do not have it available. I will update you with any new manufacturers I find and test prior to sharing with you.
